Job Description

New Directions Mental Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Child and Adolescent Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our outpatient clinic. As a key member of our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based mental health care to children, adolescents, and their families in a supportive, collaborative environment. New Directions Mental Health is dedicated to providing comprehensive outpatient mental health care for children, adolescents, and adults, offering personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs. Our culture is grounded in empathy, support, and teamwork, and we are committed to improving the well-being of every client we serve. In this role, you will conduct thorough diagnostic assessments and intake evaluations for children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns. You will develop and implement individualized treatment plans that are strength-based, goal-oriented, and responsive to the unique needs of each child and family. Using evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy techniques, family systems approaches, and trauma-informed interventions, you will provide individual, family, and, when appropriate, group therapy in an outpatient setting. You will collaborate closely with parents, caregivers, and other members of the child’s support system to enhance treatment outcomes, offering psychoeducation, parenting strategies, and regular feedback on progress. In addition, you will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, coordinating care and consulting with psychiatrists, pediatricians, school personnel, and other community providers to ensure integrated and comprehensive support. The ability to perform ongoing risk assessments, respond to crises, and create appropriate safety plans is an important component of this position. Accurate, timely documentation of clinical services is essential. You will maintain detailed electronic health records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in accordance with clinical, legal, and ethical standards. You will monitor and evaluate client progress toward treatment goals, adjusting interventions as needed and engaging clients and families in collaborative treatment planning. You will also be expected to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, confidentiality, and cultural responsiveness while working with diverse youth and family populations. New Directions Mental Health offers a team-oriented environment where therapists are encouraged to consult with colleagues, participate in case conferences, and engage in regular supervision or peer consultation. You will have opportunities for ongoing professional development through trainings, workshops, and access to evidence-based practice resources, supporting your growth as a clinician in the child and adolescent mental health field. As an employee, you will be part of a mission-driven organization where your work has a tangible, positive impact on the lives of young people and their families. This position is designed as a full-time role with a primarily outpatient caseload and may include a hybrid schedule combining in-clinic and telehealth sessions, depending on client needs and organizational policies. Typical responsibilities include managing a steady caseload, maintaining appropriate scheduling and follow-up, and contributing to a positive, collaborative clinic culture. In return, New Directions Mental Health provides a supportive workplace, opportunities to grow your skills, and the chance to do deeply meaningful, rewarding work every day in the mental health sector.
