Job Description
Marshfield Clinic – Marshfield Children’s is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our integrated pediatric health system.
In this role, you will work closely with occupational therapists, physicians, nurses, and other pediatric specialists to provide high‑quality, family‑centered care to children across central and northern Wisconsin.
You will implement individualized treatment plans developed by supervising occupational therapists, focusing on improving children’s functional abilities in areas such as self‑care, play, school participation, and social engagement.
Using evidence‑based interventions, therapeutic activities, and adaptive equipment, you will guide children and families through goal‑oriented therapy sessions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
You will observe and document patient performance, measure progress, and communicate clearly with the supervising occupational therapist to update and adjust treatment plans.
You will educate parents and caregivers on home exercise programs, safe use of equipment, and strategies to support carryover of skills in daily routines.
Within our collaborative, patient‑first culture, you will participate in interdisciplinary team discussions, case conferences, and care coordination to ensure that therapy services are integrated with broader medical and psychosocial needs.
You will maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, adhere to all regulatory and safety standards, and support quality improvement initiatives to enhance pediatric rehabilitation outcomes.
This position offers opportunities to expand your clinical skills through access to specialized pediatric programs, continuing education, and mentorship.
You will contribute to a positive work environment that values compassion, integrity, and continuous improvement, while benefiting from a balanced schedule and strong organizational support.
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at Marshfield Children’s, you will play a vital role in helping children reach their highest level of independence and participation at home, in school, and in the community.

Frequently asked questions
What license do I need to apply?
An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.
Is this a school-year or year-round position?
School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.
What experience is expected?
Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
