Job Description

SUMMARY: The OT Team Leader is an Occupational Therapist who will have the responsibility of coordinating student programs, clinical in-services and educational meetings scheduling and case management.

Duties will also include providing physical evaluations, occupational therapy treatment plans and supervising other physical therapy team members.

This position is essential to keeping occupational therapy staff up to date on latest treatment techniques within areas of expertise.

This is a 90% patient care/ 10% program development position.

The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Assesses patient condition, establishes goals, treatments and care plan in conjunction with patient/family Ensures that appropriate treatment is performed in interdisciplinary fashion, consulting with physicians and other departments about impact of OT factors on patient health status Participates in continuing education as a role model to the staff and to use most current evidence-based practices in treatment techniques of a variety of occupational therapy diagnoses Documents findings, treatments and other patient information in a timely manner in electronic medical record Complies with appropriate clinic policies related to infection control, safety and AAAHC standards Educates patient and family regarding appropriate care and use of various therapies and exercises Provides educational resources to staff, patients and family Discusses needs for specific training/continuing education with physician referral sources Assists with core competencies and documentation of peer reviews with direction from Rehabilitation Manager Assists with management of occupational therapy schedules to facilitate optimal productivity and patient care.

Checks all occupational therapy schedules on a daily basis and works with front desk to fill openings or shift patients so that all therapists have an appropriate schedule for the day Works in collaboration with Rehab Manager, contributes to staff and OT meetings regarding areas of responsibility Supervises rehabilitative department staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of three to five years' experience as a Physical Therapist, preferably in an outpatient clinic setting.

Previous managerial/supervisory experience strongly desired.

Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, standards and applications.

Knowledge of clinic polices/procedures, regulations, safety infection control, quality control requirements.

Knowledge of how to use/maintain occupational therapy equipment.

Skill in appropriate evaluation and treatment of patients.

Skill in using OT equipment by consistently using devices appropriately to improve patient health status.

Skill in effectively maintaining equipment, successfully completing competency testing.

Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, staff.

Ability to evaluate utilization and quality data and make necessary modifications in performance.

Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form and via effective problem resolution.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy current state PT license required Working Conditions: Primarily exam and exercise room settings.

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common in a clinic environment.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk; stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand.

Considerable physical activity related to patient care including standing, bending, stooping, reaching.

Must be able to lift/carry equipment up to 100 pounds and to move apparatus as needed.

Requires ability to transfer/transport patients safely.

Must have eye-hand coordination.

Occasional stress from dealing with patient noncompliance.

May be exposed to various patient conditions including infectious diseases, blood, and bodily fluids.
