Day Shift - 7.5 Hours (United States of America) The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is an individual who functions in both a support and collaborative role with the Registered Nurse by providing direct care to individual and to groups of psychiatric patients.
He/she is responsible for patient care activities as assigned and milieu management.
Principal duties and responsibilities include: organize and implement group activities in conjunction with the unit program and other staff, performs procedures associated with activities of daily living and personal hygiene of the patient, demonstrates a humanistic and caring attitude, demonstrate a basic knowledge of desired effects and side effects of psychotropic medications, establish and foster collegial relationships with peers and other disciplines, is open and responsive to the diverse backgrounds and experience of other people and promotes an environment that is sensitive to cultural diversity, demonstrate therapeutic skills in crisis intervention, perform supplemental components of the nursing admission, and, recognizes changes in a patient's mental status & sharing findings with the primary nurse.
Required
Experience: 2 yrs experience in an acute care Psychiatric setting preferred.
Ability to read, write, understand and speak English in a clear and concise manner; orientation toward consumer satisfaction; and, physical stamina, manual dexterity and visual and aural acuity to perform duties Certification/Licensure: EKG and Phlebotomy exp. preferred.
Current BLS required and CPI or PMCS preferred Education Requirements: High school diploma required.
