About This Role
This Medical Director role involves overseeing a newly launched outpatient mental health program for an established behavioral health group. You'll split time between on-site leadership and remote work in a hybrid arrangement. Your responsibilities include clinical supervision, program development, and patient care delivery within the mental health and developmental disabilities sector. The position suits psychiatrists who combine clinical expertise with administrative capability—someone comfortable building systems, mentoring staff, and shaping program direction from the ground up. This is ideal for a physician ready to move beyond pure clinical practice into a leadership capacity while maintaining patient contact. Based in the Uvalde, Texas area, this role offers the chance to develop a program rather than simply manage an existing one.

Frequently asked questions
What license do I need to apply?
An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.
Is this a school-year or year-round position?
School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.
What experience is expected?
Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
