Job Description

New Directions Mental Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our outpatient team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, developing personalized treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique needs. Drawing on evidence-based practices, you will conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, formulate accurate clinical impressions, and deliver therapeutic interventions that promote emotional, behavioral, and relational well-being. Working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment grounded in empathy, support, and professionalism, you will coordinate care closely with colleagues and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity and quality of treatment. You will maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, while strictly adhering to confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines. Ongoing responsibilities include monitoring client progress, adjusting interventions as clinically indicated, and engaging clients and families in goal-setting and relapse-prevention planning. The therapist in this role will also conduct risk assessments, provide crisis intervention as needed, and use sound clinical judgment to determine appropriate levels of care or referrals. You will participate in regular case consultations, clinical supervision (as applicable), and staff meetings, contributing to a culture that prioritizes learning, collaboration, and high-quality care. New Directions Mental Health offers a supportive environment where you can deepen your clinical skills, engage in meaningful work with diverse populations, and positively impact the lives of clients across the lifespan. This position offers a hybrid work environment, with a combination of in-office and remote sessions as appropriate to clinical needs and organizational guidelines, and includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement options.

  • Is this a school-year or year-round position?

School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.

  • What experience is expected?

Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
