About This Role

As a Behavior Technician at Horizon Blue ABA, you'll work directly with children in applied behavior analysis therapy sessions in the Hyde Park area. Your days involve implementing treatment plans under supervision, collecting behavioral data, and responding thoughtfully to challenging moments—managing frustration, redirecting behaviors, and staying calm when sessions don't go as planned. You'll need emotional resilience and genuine patience, since this work requires you to remain regulated and present even during difficult interactions. The role suits candidates who are comfortable with unpredictable situations, can follow detailed protocols while also thinking flexibly, and find meaning in small progress. You'll collaborate closely with supervisors and the clinical team to support each child's growth through consistent, compassionate practice.

Frequently asked questions

  • What license do I need to apply?

An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.

  • Is this a school-year or year-round position?

School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.

  • What experience is expected?

Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.

Some of the most important moments in this work don't look like progress. They look like a child in distress, a session that isn't going the way you planned, or a behavior that's asking you to dig deeper and stay present anyway. That's where our BTs and RBTs live, and it's where the real work happens. At Horizon Blue ABA, we look for people who aren't afraid of those moments. Who can sit with a child in a hard place, stay regulated themselves, and keep communicating even when communication feels impossible. That willingness to wade through the difficult parts, without pulling back, without giving up, is what builds the kind of trust that actually moves the needle for kids. Our remote BCBAs are there with you. Not just in the good sessions but in the hard ones too, helping you understand what a behavior is communicating and what to do with that information. We talk through what happened, what it meant, and how to show up better next time. That's not just supervision. That's how great BTs and RBTs are made. If you're someone who leans in when things get hard and believes that every behavior is a child trying to tell you something, we want you on this team. And we will help you build your career. \n Behavioral Technician (RBT/BT) Qualifications & Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent A passion for helping children and families Interest in ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) Ability to provide 1:1 ABA therapy to children in home and clinic settings We are open to consider experienced and inexperienced RBTs/BTs Behavioral Technician (RBT/BT) Benefits &
