Job Description
Stellar Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team and support residents in achieving their highest level of independence and quality of life. In this role, you will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide hands-on therapeutic interventions for residents in our independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities. You will assist in implementing individualized treatment plans focused on activities of daily living, functional mobility, strength, coordination, cognitive functioning, and safety, always maintaining a compassionate, resident-centered approach. The COTA will conduct resident observations, follow established treatment goals, and document progress in accordance with regulatory and company standards. You will help residents practice self-care skills such as dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, and toileting, as well as functional tasks like transfers, use of adaptive equipment, and participation in meaningful leisure activities. Working closely with the interdisciplinary care team, including nurses, therapists, caregivers, and families, you will contribute to care planning, communicate changes in resident status, and support safe discharge planning or transitions within levels of care. This position requires strong clinical skills, effective time management, and the ability to adapt treatment approaches to residents with diverse needs, including those with dementia and complex medical conditions. You will educate residents, families, and staff on safe techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies to promote independence, fall prevention, and overall well-being. As part of Stellar Senior Living’s culture of dedicated, compassionate service, you will foster an encouraging, respectful environment where residents feel supported in working toward their personal goals. Stellar Senior Living offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and impact lives every day. You will collaborate with leadership and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and uphold all state, federal, and company policies. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a genuine passion for working with older adults. This is a full-time role with a primarily on-site clinical work environment within our senior living community, with potential for occasional flexibility based on resident and facility needs.

Frequently asked questions
What license do I need to apply?
An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.
Is this a school-year or year-round position?
School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.
What experience is expected?
Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
