Job Description

Stellar Senior Living is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team, supporting residents in our senior living communities. In this role, you will work under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality rehabilitative and restorative services to seniors in independent living, assisted living, and memory care settings. You will assist in evaluating residents’ functional abilities, implementing individualized treatment plans, and guiding residents through therapeutic activities that promote safety, independence, and meaningful engagement in daily life. As a COTA at Stellar Senior Living, you will provide hands-on care that may include therapeutic exercises, ADL (activities of daily living) training, balance and mobility interventions, cognitive and memory-support activities, and the use of adaptive equipment or compensatory strategies. You will closely monitor residents’ progress, document treatment sessions accurately and timely in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards, and communicate observations and recommendations to the supervising Occupational Therapist, nursing staff, and families to ensure continuity of care. You will collaborate daily with nurses, caregivers, therapy staff, and leadership to support resident-centered care plans, help prevent functional decline, and promote the highest possible level of independence for each resident. Your role will also include educating residents and their families on safe techniques, home and environmental modifications, and strategies to support ongoing functional success. You will contribute to interdisciplinary care meetings, share clinical insights, and help maintain a safe, supportive, and dignified environment for all residents. Stellar Senior Living is built on a culture of dedicated, compassionate service and a deep commitment to enhancing both community and personal growth. As a COTA on our team, you will have the opportunity to impact lives daily—offering not only clinical skill, but also encouragement, empathy, and meaningful connection. We seek individuals who are patient, reliable, and passionate about serving older adults, especially those living with chronic conditions, mobility challenges, or cognitive impairment. This position typically involves a regular full-time schedule in a field/on-site senior living environment, with some flexibility based on resident needs. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based clinical setting, safely assisting residents with mobility and transfers, and adhering strictly to infection control and safety standards. In return, Stellar Senior Living offers a supportive work culture, opportunities for professional growth, and the ability to build long-term relationships with residents and families while contributing significantly to their quality of life.

  • What license do I need to apply?

An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.

  • Is this a school-year or year-round position?

School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.

  • What experience is expected?

Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
