Job Description

Duties include but are not limited to

Providing general clinical psychiatric services to Veterans, including on call and walk-in services. Conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy May be expected to provide direct clinical supervision of multidisciplinary staff as appropriate Completing notes and encounters with 24 hours, assigned and/or required Talent Management Systems (TMS) trainings, and Ongoing Professional Practice Examination (OPPE) assessments for other providers by due dates assigned. May provide clinical coverage for the Chief of Behavioral Medicine Provides clinical services to Veterans in a variety of formats including face to face, Phone, CVT, and VVC as clinically appropriate. The work requires an administrative and practical understanding of mental health treatment settings, as well as clinical knowledge as a Psychiatrist. The incumbent must possess the analytical ability to research, assemble, and compile information and data, evaluate the results against appropriate standards, and recommend corrective action where indicated. Common diagnoses are anxiety disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementias, and mental disorders related to Traumatic Brain Injury. The population served consists of female and male Veterans from all military eras. Most patients are treated in an outpatient setting but consultation services may be provided to inpatients and to Community Living Center and Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program residents, patients enrolled in the Mental Health Intensive Case Management programs; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team program; Substance Use programs; Homeless programs; or Housing Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing development program. The incumbent is required to exercise judgement in the selection of or adaptation of standard and accepted clinical theories, techniques, and practices in treating patients or developing new techniques and programs for the treatment of specialized problems or clinical populations.
