Schedule: PRN- Contingent Non-Benefitted, Day Shift Rate: $51.27 Flat Rate JOB SUMMARY The primary duties of the Speech Therapist are to test and measure those patients with speech, language, cognitive, hearing, and/or swallowing impairments.
As prescribed by a referring physician, the ST evaluates, establishes a treatment plan, and treats the patients.
The ST is mindful of the diagnosis and considers all precautions, indications and contraindications of care.
PERFORMANCE DUTIES Provide effective, outcome related patient care demonstrated through patient/customer satisfaction and goal accomplishment.
Practices understanding and compliance with all legal, regulatory and reimbursement criteria.
Documentation must be concise, objective, and legible.
Content should meet all reimbursement criteria and accreditation standards.
Able to identify patient barriers to learning and is able to incorporate appropriate teaching methodology to ensure patient/family understanding.
Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth and maintaining current day treatment skills.
Able to effectively organize responsibilities so that maximal patient contacts and efficiency are achieved.
Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with all patient care team members.
Demonstrates flexibility with changing patient volumes and types.
Responds to departmental change in a supportive manner.
Provides education to hospital employees and the community at large as requested.
AGE SPECIFIC CRITERIA This position does provide patient care.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS A.
Education M..A. or M.
S. in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from and accredited graduate program.
B.
Certification Awarded by the American Speech Language Hearing Association C.
Training and Experience Previous experience in acute care and swallow disorders is preferred but entry-level positions are also available.
Membership or eligibility for membership in the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
