Crisis Counselors work in collaboration with the treatment team towards stabilizing youth. Crisis Counselors also perform case management duties as needed. About Ventura County Crisis Services Seneca's Ventura County Crisis Services program offers a spectrum of behavioral health care crisis services to support youth and their families. These services provide safe refuge for young people who have experienced profound mental health needs including psychiatric evaluation or hospitalization. Services include crisis stabilization and short-term acute residential treatment, as well as transition and planning services to return youth to a setting in the community with stability.   • Assist clinician in intake process, including assessment and creating a welcoming environment for the youth.
  • Intervene in the youth’s behavior as needed, providing stabilization services.
  • Work in coordination with the parent and/or social worker as treatment team members, including assisting the social worker in the preparation of a Care Plan. Engage the youth in therapeutic activities and projects. Complete daily progress notes and quarterly summaries. Provide supervision for visits with family when necessary. Participate in weekly supervision with the supervisor. Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork including, but not limited to, mental health notes, time sheets, petty cash, and mileage. Provide on-call response as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Maintain a flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training. Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree required Ability to work as a team player and with a diverse population. At least 21 years of age. TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy. Schedule Full-time, On-site 12.5 hour shifts, 3 days/night per week 7am - 7:30pm OR 7pm - 7:30am On-call once per week for 24 hours Benefits Starting at $21.86 - $24.36 per hour Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role Salary increases each year Mileage reimbursements Stipends provided to staff members participating in the emergency on-call shifts
