Job Description
Stellar Senior Living is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team supporting residents in our senior living community. In this role, you will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high‑quality, person‑centered rehabilitative care to older adults in independent living, assisted living, and memory care settings. You will assist in evaluating residents’ functional abilities, implement individualized treatment plans, and deliver therapeutic interventions that promote safety, independence, and quality of life in daily activities such as dressing, grooming, bathing, mobility, and feeding. As a COTA at Stellar Senior Living, you will regularly observe and document resident progress, communicate changes in condition, and collaborate closely with nurses, caregivers, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, holistic care. You will help adapt the environment and recommend or train residents in the use of adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment to support functional independence. You will provide education and support to residents and their families on home exercise programs, safe transfer techniques, fall prevention strategies, cognitive and memory support approaches, and energy conservation for chronic conditions. This position is ideal for a COTA who is passionate about serving the senior population and finds purpose in enhancing both individual lives and the broader community. You will contribute to care planning meetings, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and uphold all regulatory, documentation, and ethical standards related to occupational therapy practice in senior living. Within Stellar Senior Living’s culture of dedicated, compassionate service, you will be encouraged to grow professionally through mentorship, ongoing training, and the opportunity to work with a diverse group of residents with varying levels of independence and cognitive function. Daily, you can expect to manage a clinical caseload, schedule and prioritize treatment sessions, and deliver both one‑on‑one and small‑group therapy focused on strengthening, balance, coordination, cognitive skills, and functional task performance. You will assist with restorative and wellness programs to help maintain residents’ functional abilities, reduce risk of decline, and support a vibrant, engaged community. Strong communication, documentation, and time‑management skills are essential as you complete accurate electronic health records, follow established care protocols, and adhere to all facility, state, and federal guidelines. If you are a licensed COTA who values teamwork, resident dignity, and continuous improvement, and you want a meaningful role where you can make a daily impact on seniors’ independence and well‑being, Stellar Senior Living offers a supportive, growth‑oriented environment where your clinical skills and compassionate approach will be highly valued.

Frequently asked questions
What license do I need to apply?
An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.
Is this a school-year or year-round position?
School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.
What experience is expected?
Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
