Job Description
Encompass Health Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a dedicated Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations and treatments to adult and geriatric patients in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
Working closely with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and case managers, you will develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on optimizing functional communication and safe swallowing to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
You will perform standardized assessments, interpret results, document findings and progress notes in the electronic medical record, and adjust therapy plans based on clinical data and patient response.
The Speech Pathologist will educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies, compensatory techniques, and home programs, ensuring a smooth transition across levels of care.
You will actively participate in team conferences, contribute to discharge planning, and collaborate with colleagues to support continuity of care and clinical excellence.
This position calls for strong clinical reasoning, evidence-based treatment planning, and adherence to all regulatory and ethical standards.
You will have opportunities to mentor or precept students, contribute to program development, and participate in quality improvement initiatives that advance patient outcomes and innovative rehabilitation practices.
