Job Description
Marshfield Clinic – Archive is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within Marshfield Children’s, a Wisconsin-based pediatric care provider in a large, integrated health system. In this role, you will provide evidence-based occupational therapy services to infants, children, and adolescents with a wide range of developmental, physical, sensory, and cognitive needs across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care settings. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, including standardized assessments and clinical observations, to identify functional strengths and challenges in areas such as fine motor skills, self-care, sensory processing, feeding, school-related activities, and play. Based on your findings, you will develop and implement individualized, family-centered treatment plans focused on maximizing functional independence, promoting participation in daily routines, and supporting the child’s overall health and well-being. Working in a collaborative, patient-first culture, you will partner closely with pediatricians, specialty physicians, nurses, physical and speech therapists, social workers, psychologists, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure consistent, high-quality services. You will provide education, training, and support to parents, caregivers, and teachers on therapy goals, home programs, adaptive techniques, and environmental modifications that enhance the child’s safety and engagement at home, school, and in the community. Your work will emphasize compassionate communication, integrity, and respect for each family’s unique needs, values, and goals. The Occupational Therapist will maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, including evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries that meet regulatory, payer, and organizational standards. You will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and care-planning meetings, as well as contribute to quality improvement, clinical pathway development, and outcome-measure initiatives within the department. You will be encouraged to use current research and best practices to guide clinical decision-making, and to participate in professional development, in-services, and continuing education to advance your skills in pediatric occupational therapy. Marshfield Clinic Health System fosters a supportive environment that values teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement. As an Occupational Therapist at Marshfield Children’s, you will have opportunities to grow your career through clinical specialization, program development, education, and participation in research or quality projects related to pediatric rehabilitation. You may be involved in developing or expanding services such as sensory integration programs, feeding and swallowing interventions within your practice scope, school-based consultation, early intervention collaboration, and transition planning for adolescents. The organization promotes staff wellness, work-life balance, and mentorship, allowing you to thrive professionally while maintaining personal well-being. This role typically follows a primarily on-site schedule in clinic and hospital settings, with potential hybrid components for selected activities such as caregiver education and follow-up when appropriate. You will follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards, and may provide supervision or mentorship to occupational therapy assistants, students, or new graduates in accordance with licensure laws and organizational guidelines. The ideal candidate is a licensed Occupational Therapist with strong pediatric experience or interest, excellent communication and critical thinking skills, and a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across central and northern Wisconsin.

Frequently asked questions
What license do I need to apply?
An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.
Is this a school-year or year-round position?
School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.
What experience is expected?
Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
