Job Description
Manchester Memorial Hospital, part of Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN), is seeking a Float Clinician III (LCSW, LMFT, LPC) to provide high-quality behavioral health services across multiple care settings within our Healthcare & Medical Services department.
In this role, you will function as a seasoned licensed clinician, flexing between inpatient units, outpatient programs, emergency/crisis services, and other designated areas to meet fluctuating patient and program needs.
You will complete comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, develop and implement person-centered treatment and discharge plans, and deliver individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based interventions.
The Float Clinician III collaborates closely with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, support safe transitions, and optimize patient outcomes.
You will conduct clinical risk assessments, respond to psychiatric and behavioral health crises, and provide ongoing safety planning, psychoeducation, and support to patients and their families.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, advanced diagnostic and documentation skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to different patient populations, age groups, and service lines.
You will maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation consistent with hospital, regulatory, and payor standards, support utilization review and discharge planning processes, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, program development, and clinical best practices.
As part of ECHN’s community-focused mission, you may also participate in community outreach, care coordination with external agencies, and linkage to social and behavioral health resources.
ECHN fosters a culture of compassionate care, teamwork, and community involvement, and you will be supported with opportunities for professional growth, continuing education, and collaboration with a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
This role is ideal for an experienced, autonomous licensed clinician who enjoys variety in daily work, is comfortable floating across settings, and is committed to delivering patient-centered, trauma-informed behavioral health care in a hospital-based environment.

Frequently asked questions
What license do I need to apply?
An active state license in your discipline (PT, OT, SLP, LCSW, LPC, BCBA, etc.) in good standing. Therapy licensure is state-specific — the PT, OT, and ASLP-IC compacts let you practice in member states without a separate license.
Is this a school-year or year-round position?
School-based therapy roles typically follow a 9- or 10-month school-year calendar with summers off. Outpatient, hospital, home-health, and telehealth positions are year-round with PTO. Both options are widely available — check the job description for specifics.
What experience is expected?
Most therapy roles welcome new grads through mid-career clinicians. Specialty positions (acute care, NICU, pediatric feeding, hand therapy) typically prefer 2+ years plus relevant certifications.
